Size:  painting 15” x 11” [glazed]  frame 24” x 20”    

Condition:  Very Fine

Frame:   The work is in its original frame and is signed and dated 1839 at bottom left.


Details:   This lovely watercolour portrait of two sisters is by Francois Rochard.        


He studied in Paris but came to London in 1820 to join his brother S. J. Rochard, who was already working there.         

 

He quickly became popular and attracted Royal patronage, working from 19 Howland Street, Fitzroy Square.      


He retired to Notting Hill, having made a considerable fortune.       


He was awarded a silver medal by the Royal Society of Arts in 1823.        


He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Society of British Artists and the New Watercolour Society from 1820 – 1855.

 

The work is in its original frame and is signed and dated 1839 at bottom left.       


It is in fine condition and is glazed.
