A fine charming portrait in oil on panel of an unidentified young gentleman seated in a chair by a window, a landscape beyond.   

 

Thomas Richmond was the son of the miniature painter Thomas Richmond Snr (1771-1837) and brother of George Richmond.

 

He painted from Sheffield until 1833, then moved to London.


His principal clientele was the hunting fraternity.


Between 1833 and 1860 he exhibited 51 portraits in London.      


He died in Windermere in 1874 where he had an estate, but was buried in Brompton Cemetery, London.
